Goodbye to the Garden

A very blessed September 1st to you! 

 

Today we got the garden cleaned out.  (Whew, it was humid!)  I love the garden, but am always glad to have all the dead vines and plants out.  There were several times this year that we thought it wouldn't make it, but it did and we were blessed with a great harvest! 

 

Summer Craft Exchange-2012

Yippee!  I can, finally, tell you about my latest craftiness!  My little package has made it's way to Sleepy Eye, Minnesota!  But wait...I am getting ahead of myself.  :)

This was my second time participating in the Craft Exchange.  (Here is my post from last November.)  I was excited to join the fun, again!  I was paired up with Mrs. Alyssa (http://www.hems2dolls.blogspot.com/) all the way from Minnesota!  I had a hard time deciding what to make...so I just glued a little, beaded a little, and sewed a little.  :)  My package included: rosette hair pins, bead-balls, and a tangerine-scented rice pack with a baggie to match.

May Happenings

It's been almost a month since I last posted, "I'm a Homeschool Graduate!"  (It is still hard for me to believe that I have graduated!)  :)

My past few weeks have been filled with Birds Nest Necklaces, bead-balls, gardening, mini apple pies, the homeschool conference, sewing, reading, fresh lettuce and onions from our garden, spending time with family, and a little bit of everything in between.

I think these little elephants would make great gifts...they are so precious!  I look forward to making them for my little brothers (in some boyish colors)!  :)

Children's Blanket

Today, I made a special blanket for a VERY special little boy.  :) 

Some know him as Andrew, but I get to call him Cousin!

Andrew had surgery, Thursday...you can read about his story on my Uncle's blog: http://dkevinbrown.wordpress.com/ (scroll down for all the related posts).

Andrew will have to be in a wheelchair for several weeks...so, I decided to make him a blanket that would fit his wheelchair.

This little blanket is "all-boy" and has a soft minky back!

If the Lord brings little Andrew to mind, please pray for him in the coming weeks.

Sewing Updates

What a lovely (but WINDY) day we had here in the foothills of NC!  I woke up to the smell of coffee and the beautiful sight of a powdery snow!  Though it didn't last long, it was a treat!

Here is a sewing update...

A few weeks ago, I made this skirt for my sweet cousin, Clara!  It is a simple gathered skirt, with a ruffle trim.  I love the pink and brown!

Saturday, I worked on a skirt using this material...

Blogiversary

February 21, 2011 was the day I first published my blog!  Since then, I have had 42 (43 if you count this one!) posts, pictures galore, and have been tremendously blessed.  (You can find my first post here.)

Saturday Sewings

It has been kind of a dreary day, here, in the Foothills of NC...so why not brighten it up a little bit?  :)

But let me back up...this bright and cheery little pillow is for a sweet lady that my family and I have recently met.  It is a blessing to see her love for her family and grandchildren.  (Sorry, I can't say her name...it's a surprise!)  I hope she likes it!!!

~Off Topic~

This past week, I weeded my raised-beds...WEEDS ARE GROWING IN JANUARY/FEBRUARY?!!  Where is the snow???  :)  Anyway, we had some warm days this week and it was a great opportunity to weed and start getting the garden ready.  One thing I miss, in the winter, are fresh tomatoes!  Oh, how I crave tomato sandwiches!  :)

Sewing-Baby Skirt

Introducing my most recent project...a baby skirt/diaper cover!!!  :)  Yesterday, I found this pattern and thought it was so cute.  I love making baby clothes...they are so precious and tiny!  This little skirt is size 0-3 months.

I love the attached, contrasting diaper cover...

I am hoping to make a pair of fabric shoes/sandals and a baby headband or hair bow to match!

Craft Gift Exchange-Pt.2

After sending my craft gift exchange partner her gift (see here), I anxiously awaited the arrival of my gift in the mail!  On Monday, my package from Mrs. Amber in Texas came! 

Here it is:

Craft Gift Exchange

This was my first time participating in a craft "Gift Exchange."  It is really neat...

My assigned crafting partner, is Mrs. Amber (http://www.luckylees.com/) from Texas.  After emailing back and forth, sharing our interests, I decided to make her an apron.  (She, like me, enjoys cooking!)

Here is the picture of the apron I made especially for her...

The apron was made in lovely polka-dot browns and pinks, with some of my favorite fabric...Farmdale Crossing in Pink.

Here is the pretty frayed flower!

I hope she likes it as much as I do and gets lots of use out of it! 

I am looking forward to receiving my little goody in the mail...all the way from Texas!
